A meet and greet between students and the SABPP committee members were held on the 25th of May, on the Potchefstroom Campus. It was an opportunity for students to learn more about the human resources (HR) profession and the role of SABPP in promoting HR best practices in SA.
During the event, the SABPP committee members introduced themselves and shared their knowledge on various HR topics such as talent management, employee relations, labour laws, and HR technology. They also discussed the various HR certifications and qualifications that SABPP offers, and how these can help students to build their careers in HR.
In addition, the event provided an opportunity for students to network with the committee members and learn about potential opportunities in the field. The students also asked questions and required advice on career development in HR.
“I think that this was a very informative session where my questions and queries were answered. The student chapter committee members were easy to approach and were knowledgeable on the SABPP,” said Megan Jooste
Nomonde Makutso stated “very glad I attended especially with the course I’ve joined I now have better insight in terms of the job specialisation and opportunities, it was also very informative and it will be helpful in the future.”
As the students had put it, the first SABPP student chapter event hosted by the committee was a success and there would be more to come.
